In this four-day workshop, students will explore exciting theatre-style lighting and colour when it comes to painting a portrait from the live model.
Tom Van de Wouwer will take you through the effects of coloured light, their influence on skin tones and the surrounding environment. These ideas will be fundamental to building an analytical understanding of perceptual colour, as well as developing an intuitive approach to painting.
We will also cover basic colour theory, paint mixing and drawing concepts useful for portraiture. You can expect daily demonstrations by Tom, and individual one-on-one feedback to help you understand these concepts and gain confidence in your own painting. Although emphasis will be on developing an understanding of the visual experience, all relevant materials and technical questions will also be addressed.
This workshop is for beginner and advanced students. All welcome!
