During this 3 day workshop, we will explore the many facets of colour in painting from a portrait model. Small colour studies will serve as a basis to explore the rich variety on our palettes and guide our process in the discovery of mixing oil paint.
We will try to disentangle some of the confusing aspects of colour and how it relates to painting in oils. We will cover all things related to the optical experience of colour as well as the practical challenges oftranslating into pigments. Topics such as colour theory, palette organization and mixing of colour, historical and modern palettes, and colour relationships are some of the ideas that will be discussed.
Join us to have your myths about colour dispelled and fresh insights gained! Bring your most vibrant colours, bring your dullest colours, prepare your toughest questions and I will try to answer them all.
The class will be divided between lecture demonstrations and individual one-on-one feedback from life. This class is beginner friendly and ideally suited if you are starting out with painting in oils although advanced students will have plenty of challenge as well.
This workshop invites artists of all levels on a journey to refine their artistic skills and broaden their understanding of oil painting in a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
